LazyRs Studios, LLC ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Cursus mobile application ("App") and the cursus-app.com website ("Site"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App.

1 Data We Collect and Why

Location Data (Foreground & Background)

Cursus is a GPS-based racing application. We collect your device's precise location data to map your routes, calculate your pace, and allow you to race against "Ghost" opponents.

  • Background Location: If you allow it ("Allow all the time" on Android), Cursus uses your location in the background only during an active race, so a race started from your watch can keep tracking your route while the phone app is closed or the screen is locked. A notification is shown for the whole race, and background location is never used outside an active race. If you don't allow it, you can still race; starting a race from the watch just requires the phone app to be open.
  • Weather: To show current weather, Cursus sends approximate coordinates (rounded to about 1 km) to the Open-Meteo weather service (open-meteo.com). No account, name, or device identifier is sent with this request.
  • Live Multiplayer: If you join a Live Race Lobby, your real-time location is temporarily shared with the other participant in your specific lobby.

Health and Fitness Data (Health Connect)

If you explicitly grant permission, Cursus integrates with Android Health Connect to read your Heart Rate and Step data. This data is used solely to display your real-time biometric metrics on your watch and phone screens during a race, and to calculate your average heart rate for your personal post-race statistics. We do not sell or use this data for advertising.

Account Information

We use Google Sign-In, email and password sign-in, and Firebase Authentication to create a secure account for you. This collects your basic profile information (Name and Email) so we can sync your race history, saved routes, and unlocked achievements across your devices and on the Site.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of Cursus is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (such as the Android Advertising ID or Apple IDFA), IP address, approximate (coarse) location, device and app information, and ad interaction data. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

  • Your precise GPS route and your health data are never shared with advertisers.
  • Where required, we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads (for example, through Google's consent message in the EEA/UK, or Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS). You can choose non-personalized ads, reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings, or remove ads by purchasing the paid upgrade.

In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Cursus may offer paid features, such as a one-time or subscription upgrade that unlocks online features and removes ads. Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store; we never receive or store your payment card details. We receive a purchase record (such as a purchase token, product, and purchase status) linked to your account so we can unlock and restore your purchase across devices. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled through your Google Play or App Store account.

2 Data Sharing and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure. We do not sell your personal, location, or health data to third parties. We share limited data only with the service providers that run Cursus: Google Firebase (accounts, storage, crash reports), Google AdMob (ads, free version), Open-Meteo (weather lookups using approximate coordinates), and Google Play / Apple App Store (purchases).

Community Routes: If you explicitly choose to publish a completed run to the "Community Routes" page, the GPS path, total time, and your display name will be visible to other Cursus users so they can race your Ghost. Private runs remain strictly private.

3 Data Deletion

You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data. You can delete individual runs or clear your entire history directly within the Cursus App settings, or by contacting us via email. See cursus-app.com/delete-account for step-by-step instructions.
